Artist's Description

The Sky Tower is an observation and telecommunications tower located in Auckland, New Zealand. It is 328 meters (1,076 feet) tall, as measured from ground level to the top of the mast, making it the tallest freestanding structure in the Southern Hemisphere and the 23rd tallest tower in the world. I photographed this from across the Auckland Harbor with a 200 mm lens during a 5-week photography trip to New Zealand. During the day, we had visited Waiheke Island via ferry boat off east coast of North Island of New Zealand where is rained all day. As we entered the harbor, after dark, all of the lights of the city were brilliantly lit up. I used my 200 mm telephoto lens on a tripod making sure my focus on the tower was perfect. This image won the highest award, the Loan Collection, from the Professional Photographers of America and is published in the Loan Book.
