Artist's Description
There is never a bad time to take a photograph in Yosemite National Park, except during the mid-day sun. This image was photographed during sunset, giving Half Dome this beautiful black and white image. To capture this angle of Half Dome, I had to hike up a steep roadway and then hike down after dark, using my head lamp. I actually added the full moon, for an artsy effect, that I had photographed from a different location.

Gary Johnson CPP, M.Photog. is a certified portrait and fine art landscape photographer who photographs on-location and has a portrait studio at his home in Sonora, California. Gary was voted the Union Democrat Newspaper's Readers Choice Award for "Best Photographer" in Tuolumne County for 2017, 2018 and 2019. Gary has been a member of the Professional Photographers of America since 2002 and earned his Masters of Photography degree in January of 2018.
