Artist's Description

I photographed this Long-Tailed Silky-Flycatcher in Costa Rica. The Long-tailed Silky-flycatcher (Ptilogonys caudatus) is a blue-gray and yellow thrush-sized bird of high-elevations forests in Costa Rica and Panama. Occurring mostly above 6,000 feet, this species forages in small flocks, often landing on high perches or berry-producing trees.

Gary was voted the Union Democrat Newspaper's Readers Choice Award for "Best Photographer" in Tuolumne County for 2017, 2018 and 2019. Gary has been a member of the Professional Photographers of America since 2002 and earned his Masters of Photography degree in January of 2018.
