Description
"Serenity Sea" was taken at one of the southern-most points the South Island of New Zealand called Curio Bay. While I was taking this shot, Yellow-eyed Penguins were hopping out of the ocean and making loud squawking sounds to locate their mate. The sun was setting back over my right shoulder creating a rainbow of colors in the direction I was shooting, which was south toward the South Pole. I set my camera on a tripod about 6 inches above this rocky shelf. As the waves came in, the depth of the water on the shelf I was standing on would fill up and I had to lift my camera up to avoid getting it wet. As the waves retreated, I set my camera and tripod back down and captured this 13-second exposure as the water poured over the rocky shelf. This image received top honors by being placed into the prestigious Loan Collection at the International Print Competition.
